Another busy month for the Women’s Guild in Oman (WGO), has seen the election of new executive committee members following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) that took place on 25th March 2014 at the Royal Flight Club. Mrs Susan Flower was elected President of the WGO, stating “I am very excited about my new position and look forward to continuing the good work of the WGO, promoting friendship amongst women of all nationalities in the Sultanate as well as continuing to support many worthy charities”.

The AGM saw the end of the 2013-14 financial year with the WGO enjoying yet another successful year in fundraising. Events were well attended, and the WGO was able to make contributions to the following charities: Early Intervention Center for Children with Disability, The Down’s Syndrome Society, Al Noor Blind Association, Reading Skills Development Centre, Protestant Church in Oman, The Children’s Orphanage, Rostaq Leprosy Clinic, St Luke’s Hospital, The Royal Hospital, Pediatric Wards and the Indian and Filipino Community Welfare Centres. The WGO wishes to thank its members, local sponsors, business partners and all those who contributed, for their ongoing support and making this possible.

Established in 1973, the WGO is committed to promoting friendship amongst women of all nationalities living in Oman and provides a welcoming and supportive environment for all its members, with the opportunity to meet up on a regular basis. Throughout the year, a wide range of activities are organised, from weekly coffee mornings to the much anticipated annual Crystal Ball in December. They are proud to support local charities, and make regular contributions with funds raised from their events going to a variety of worthy organisations.
